WEEKLY UPDATE
I am excited to announce our first visit and presentation from Anderson University's Kardatzke Wellness Center . The topic will be Fueling the athelete and active adult presented by Connie Hippensteel, director of the center. The session is designed to answer your questions about nutrition and its role in recovery, endurance, weight loss/gain. I hope everyone will take something from this meeting that will be of benefit. I want to encourage attendance, it is winter in Indiana and this is an activity you can be involved in to releve that winter boredom and help you be ready for an active cycling summer! The Wellness Center on the AU campus is just north of University Blvd (formerly 3rd street). Coming from Scatterfield Road, turn left on to University. Turn right at the second block to the parking lots for the Wellness Center. Enter through the doors in the middle of the structure. The classroom where we will meet will be on the first floor shortly after you enter.
Bring a friend, see you there, Thursday evening, January 19,Kardatzke Wellness Center, Anderson University, at 6:30 p.m.

Cycling in Muncie is definitely a hot topic these days. The Muncie Action Plan is currently in the process of putting Muncie on the bicycle friendly status list in the state. Also, Ball State is applying for a Bicycle Friendly University status from the League of American Bicyclists. Recently I met with Stacy E. Wheeler who is a Sustainability Specialist for Facilities Planning and Management at Ball State. We talked about the ways that Muncie, Ball State and local cyclists could work together to make our area more rider friendly. We discussed Ball States Outdoor Pursuits which is the new cycling hub on campus and if there could be a way that the DCC and Outdoor Pursuits could work together to improve rider safety and education on campus and in our community. The DCC has many very experienced cyclist and it would be great to form a good working relationship with Ball State and Muncie in this new exciting attitude towards cycling in our home town. I will continue to pursue these avenues and hopefully we can spur some growth in the DCC as well. To learn more about Outdoor Pursuits and Map there are websites for both organizations.
