RIDE WITH THE DCC IN 2007

Rides for cyclists at all levels

Saturday Morning Club Rides

The goal for Saturday morning rides is to accommodate riders at all levels. Generally there are short alternate routes with an intermediate and long route. The DCC tries to limit the longer portion of the ride less than 50 miles.

Each Saturday morning ride is lead by a different ride leader, volunteer, and the routes rarely repeated throughout the year. So there’s a lot of variety in the routes, leaders and riders.

The DCC official ride schedule for Saturday rides will be published in March

Starting location: All rides start at the Greenway Depot on Wysor St

Weekday Rides

Rides once known as the Wednesday Night Greenway Ride and Tuesday/Thursday Night Training Rides are now under a new format. The DCC wants to help you find someone to ride with anytime during the week. If you are looking for a group or an individual to ride with, the DCC can help.

Just let us know via e-mail, a phone call or through verbal contact and the DCC will try to let you know who’s riding and when.

PS: There’s a rumor that people are meeting at the south end of the trail on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Old habits die hard. 6:00 PM if you’re wanting to see if it’s true.

Sunday Morning Show and Go for dedicated riders and tri-athletes

Long fast paced rides designed for the dedicated cyclists or tri-athletes. Exactly what happens on these rides depends on who shows. Thus, Show and Go. Typically it is 60 or more miles with few stops and with average speeds that exceed 19mph. These rides are for endurance riders, such as those considering the Ride Across Indiana.

Starting location: TBD (Kirk’s, Blue Bottle or the Depot)

Special Events

Your DCC leaders will plan a few events and rides to enhance the ride schedule. More information regarding these events will be provided in the newsletter, club calendar and on the website as they are developed.

Ride Leader Mission

The mission of the ride leader is to make sure the ride is SAFE, enjoyable and understood. Safety cannot be overstated, so over communicate anything that could be of concern. Rides should be fun and appropriately challenging to suit the riders. In the unfortunate event that a rider somehow gets separated from club members, each rider must know where they are going and how to get back to the start of the ride.

Unless otherwise stated, all rides begin at the Cardinal Greenway Depot downtown on Wysor Street.

Ride Maps

These rides have been popular and one or more of them usually get scheduled each year. All maps are in Adobe PDF format. If you use Windows and get a message saying "Open With..." you probably need to install Acrobat Reader. If you need GIF files, go here.
